Ethan Hastert is the son of Dennis Hastert, former speaker of the house. In June 2009, Republican Ethan Hastert announced he was running for congress. Hastert, age 31, will seek the Illinois 14th District seat in the House of Representatives in 2010. The seat is currently held by Democrat Bill Foster. Ethan Hastert, an attorney, was an aide to former Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff Lewis “Scooter” Libby. Hastert’s competition includes Jeff Danklefsen and possibly Mark Vargas, who on July 27, 2009, said he may run, but had not made an official decision yet.
