The NYPD, U.S. Coast Guard and the FBI conducted a major radioactive terrorism drill around the New York Harbor and the Verrazano Bridge, on August 4, 2009. The federal and local agencies worked together to search for a mock “dirty bomb”. This is the second major radioactive drill of the summer of 2009 in NYC. On June 9th and June 10th of 2009, New York City was the scene of a full scale training exercise to search for a nuclear device in the city. About 300 NYPD participated, 400 personal from the Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Energy and the FBI searched for a mock dirty bomb.
