Bart Sutherin flew his son Joseph Sutherin, age 14, to school in a helicopter for his first day of 9th grade at East Ridge High School in Clermont, Florida, in August 2009. Sutherin, who landed the helicopter on a the school’s football field, said he wanted his son to “make a positive impression on the other students.” The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident. Sutherin said he did not have the permission of the school district or sheriff’s office before the stunt.
