Shark Tank: Soul’s Calling

I can’t believe tonight’s episode of Shark Tank! Gina Controneo asked for $150,000 in exchange for 25% of her company and was rejected by ALL of the ‘sharks’ (investors). She has the cutest inspirational products on her website Soulscalling.com

I’m sure she won’t let them get her down–check out the flip flops-Sole Seekers- (which I LOVE), they leave imprints of words in the sand! So cute!

Also- the “Inspirella” cheerful umbrellas with cheerful sayings.

With all the horror and tragedy in the world, its the little things that bring a smile right?

    Hello Gina from Canada,

I just watched your presentation on the Shark’s Tank and must say I truly love your products. I concur with the Sharks, and feel you’ve over valuated your business and perhaps you need to reconsider it. I would like to review your forecasts as I am curious, for your branding is superb and has the potential to evolve. Other than mail order or your through your website, where can I buy your products. If I placed an order for 200,000 Sole Seekers but in Royal Blue, can I get them delivered by next week?

Sometimes a business owner needs to look at what is working and what is not. Do you have a business mentor? You mentioned selling happiness and inspiring others, but who inspires you, who makes your business happy? Perhaps just rethinking your business strategy will make a difference. Would you agree from the presentation your path seems somewhat flawed? Trade shows are horrendously expensive and although provide a channel for exposure; you are among a sea of products. The overwhelmed purchaser’s job is to scan for products that specifically fit into a precise business niche, spot trends and meticulously choose defined products. Truth, umbrellas and flip-flops are indifferent in this fast paced environment full of merchandise.

What do you think about having someone you could bounce business ideas off; receive constructive feedback, someone willing to assist you with expert advice, trustworthy, brutally honest, and distant enough that emotions are irrelevant. I am a 45 year old female entrepreneur, presently working with Canada’s largest telecommunication company in sales and marketing. I have been described as somebody with great powers of endurance, kind, and perceptive, keen and prudent but just tenacious enough to stay in the game. I am a wife and mother of three grown children, live in London, Ontario, Canada. I’m the result of a small community, have a kinship with the renowned Richard Ivey School of Business and the University of Western Ontario. I have consulted for businesses large and small and would like to discuss some thoughts and business concepts with you. If you are interested please email me and we can set some objectives. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Truly,
    Shannon Ashburn
