Late night talk show host David Letterman revealed that he was the victim of an extortion attempt during the October 1, 2009, taping of Late Show with David Letterman. Letterman received a package from a person threatening to release information regarding his relations with female employees if he did not pay $2 million.
The alleged extortionist was arrested. Letterman came forward to the public hours after he admitted in court to having “sexual relationships with members of his staff.” On the show Letterman said, “This morning, I did something I’ve never done in my life. I had to go downtown and testify before a grand jury.”
