The “Happiest” states in the United States were determined by data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The “happiness” was rated according to a survey of 1.3 million people. Those who claimed to be the happiest lived in states with favorable crime rates, taxes, weather, education and air quality.
The worst states were NY and CT. The ‘happiest’ state was Louisiana, but ”The Buffalo News” points out that the data was collected before Hurricane Katrina. I don’t quite understand how one ‘measures’ happiness but apparently they take local taxes, weather and school issues into account. I didn’t see anything about foreclosures, layoffs, or the states with the most uninsured. I call for a do-over. Stupid surveys.
