Is Good Eats’ Alton Brown Sick?

I just watched the last few minutes of the White House Iron Chef encore presentation tonight and noticed that Alton Brown looked, well…sick. For a moment I wondered if it was my lack of HDTV or the lighting on the set, but the others on the show, like Bobby Flay, Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse, all seemed to look like they usually do. I did a quick search for “Alton Brown Sick” and noticed that other were wondering the same thing.

Apparently back in October of last year, Brown, the host of the Food Network’s “Good Eats,” was featured in a “Los Angeles Times” article. He talked about his new book, “Good Eats: The Early Years,” and according to the LA Times Show Tracker Blog, Brown was considering writing a book about how he lost 50 pounds through watching what he eats and getting exercise.

During the Iron Chef competition, with White House Executive Chef, Alton appeared frail, grey-ish and it looked like he had some kind of sore on his face, up towards his cheek. I really hope he’s okay and that this new look is the ‘new’ healthy Alton and he just happened to have a huge zit on the day this was recored. What do you think? Is this the result of a diet or is Alton Brown sick?

I was thinking exactly the same thing. He looks terrible, not healthy. That was either a bad diet plan or bad make-up.

  • Dear Alton, I very concerned about your appearance lately. You have lost alot of weight. My friend are you sick ? If so I may be of help I am well educated in Natural Healing an have healed many souls in need. If not and you lost weight for what ever reason’s. I want my previous Alton back. Yeah, if he could just gain back a few pounds in the face… A few years ago, when I ran the NYC marathon, I lost tons of weight and everyone was concerned, sure that I had a terminal illness. I learned that skinny isn’t always attractive. I think there’s a middle ground. He’ll most likely balance out. Good to know he’s not ill.
