Corning promises to change the face of consumer electronics with Gorilla Glass. This type of glass is ultra thin, nearly indestructible and provides a crystal clear picture. Gorilla Glass is already used LG Electronics, Samsung, Motion Computing for laptops, tablet computers and cell phones. By mid-2010, Gorilla Glass had been used in more than 100 gadgets manufactured by 19 different brands. In late-July 2010, the company announced that the would invest about $800 million to create a new LCD glass factory in China and expand the production of Gorilla Glass to meet the demand for strong glass by television manufacturers. Televisions with Gorilla Glass will likely hit shelves in 2011.
